Festival Technical Manager
Reporting to: Underbelly Production Management, Operations Manager
Working with: Venue Technical staff, Site Management, Operations staff

We are looking for a Festival Technical Manager to work with Underbelly at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival. The successful applicant will assist the Production department in the planning and delivery of all technical elements of Underbelly’s Venues and Sites at the Festival. They will work closely with all venue technical staff to ensure the continuing high quality of all Underbelly venues is achieved, and to fulfil the technical requirements of all of our visiting companies.
Crewing of venues with technical staff
Management of quotes and hire contracts with suppliers within budgets
Liaising with Pre-production staff to ensure delivery of production needs
Assist on the design and distribution of venue technical specification
Assist on the creation of production schedules
Assist with and participate in the build & strike management of festival venues & sites
Assist on the management of technical staff over the Festival
Advise on needs and issues for potential future Underbelly festivals
Attend regular production meetings
3-5 years’ work experience in a relevant field, specifically technical/production management of events
Operating knowledge of modern lighting, sound and AV equipment
Have experience of rigging lighting, sound and AV in a temporary venue environment
Strong planning, organisational and interpersonal skills
Quick, creative thinking and problem solving; independent decision making
Disciplined and resourceful with restricted, specific budgets
Experience in team management, with good communication and motivational skills
Ability to be calm under pressure, quick to solve problems, and comfortable with the unexpected
Proven ability to establish networks within the arts and support the needs of artists
Competency with Microsoft Office, Apple OS and iOS programs
Empathy with the goals and philosophy of Underbelly Festivals
OTHER DESIRABLE SKILLS
Full clean driving license
Experience of working at height with a fall arrest system
Competency with AutoCAD
Interest and enthusiasm for the arts in all its forms
Applicants must be available from 23rd of July to 2nd of September to work full time in Edinburgh.
