Bristo Square: Street Performer Stage Call Out

15th Jul 2021

Underbelly has been established at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe since 2000. In a ‘normal’ year we would have over 25 performing spaces and over 250 shows. This year, things will look a little different. Underbelly will have two hubs - Bristo Square and George square, with three performance stages across the two spaces. Bristo Square will have a dedicated, open air stage for street performers while also hosting a festival bar and a range of local street food vendors.

Our dedicated performing space for street performers from Edinburgh and Scotland will operate from 12pm – 11pm, 6 – 29 August with performances taking place every hour, on the hour.

To keep everyone safe, there will be no hat passing, but we do encourage performers to bring a contact-free vessel with them. Additionally, as we now live in a more cash free environment, audiences will be able to tip each performer through our table service app, in the same way that they would also purchase a drink. Tips for all performers will start with a base of £50 which will be given by Underbelly, before any public donations are made.

Underbelly will also be running a second outdoor performance stage in George Square Gardens, should you wish to also consider performing there.

To apply to perform with us, please fill in the below JotForm link and a member of our programming team will be in touch to arrange performance slots. Underbelly are interested in programming across a wide range of genres and disciplines including family-friend daytime performances.
