IT and Networking Support Managers
Underbelly is looking for one or two IT and networking support managers.
You will be doing the instal of Underbelly's networks along with our consultant. This involves running cables, configuring routers and switches. You may have to climb ladders, use tools and be generally happy to run around. You'll be making up CAT5 cables and using connectors. You will become familiar with BT installations and be happy to troubleshoot where neccesary. You may have to phone BT, internet suppliers, IP phone suppliers, etc to troubleshoot.
You will need to liase with Edinburgh University networking department and our ticketing supplier.
You will be comfortable with both Macs and PC's.
You will be helping set up the bar tills network and be comfortable with wireless networks. These are all run with ipads and bluetooth creditcard machines.
Install is until Saturday 5th August when you will be on a rate of £80 per day. You will not need to work everyday from 15 July - 5th August but it will be the majority of these days. During the run 5th - 28th August you will need to be expected to have a daily walk around and check everything is functioning properly, and then be within a 1/2 hour commute of the sites for the rest of the day incase of any emergancies. Run rate is £50 per day. If you work for more than 5 hours whilst on run rate you will be paid an additional £7.60 per hour.
Dates of employment are 15 July - 1 September 2017. (Although some of this time may be flexitime and not neccessarily everyday).
You will have a logical mind and be able to work through problems and troubleshoot. You will be a good team player but be able to work independently. You will have a passion for technology and inovation. You may even call yourself a geek. It will suit someone that wants to pursue their own study or projects during the run.
You will be either a student in the relevant field or hold a degree in a relevant subject.
